An augmented reality mobile application for the 2nd European Games in Minsk, SportAR, has been presented at the briefing “The use of IT during the 2nd European Games” in Minsk on May 28.
Innovative IT solutions have long become part of everyday life for millions of people around the world. The organisers of the Games aim to make the multi-sport event comfortable and hitch-free for athletes, and high-tech for spectators. For example, the Opening Ceremony of the 2nd European Games at Dinamo Stadium will feature a show with AR imagery. According to Oleg Zakharov, one of the top executives at Citrea Soft software developer, the AR app will enhance the real world of the upcoming sport event with the virtual world of the Games mascot Lesik.
“Everyone can download the application to stay up to date with schedules and results and also to take cool photos with the mascot. One should just open the app and focus the camera on a special mark. We have developed this app to capture not only seconds, points, results but also the emotions, which attract sport fans to such competitions,” he said.
Participants of the meeting briefed media about the 2nd European Games management system, which includes transport and logistics management, accreditation and accommodation management as well as mobile apps for tourists and sport fans.
The representative of Asterman Digital Production, Aleksei Podgorny, told the media about the development process of the 3D mascot, which involved 25 designers.
The briefing for the press in the Teleport VR virtual reality park was attended by representatives of the Minsk European Games Organising Committee's IT partners: Synesis Sport, Citrea Soft, Asterman, Singular, and the BelGIE State Supervisory Department for Telecommunications.
