Ivye - one of the places that met the longest torch relay in the world once again!
On July 8, participants of the relay race met with local residents, children and sports fans in the square of the town.
"Peace Run" started on February 28 in Sofia (Bulgaria) and will end on October 8 in Portugal's Lisbon. The "Fire of Friendship" arrived Belarus on July 6, where visited twelve cities and towns for five days.
The team includes runners from 10 countries. In each locality they are supported by local athletes and children, who also join the mass movement.
Athletes ran to our town last Sunday. Participants shared not only their impressions, but also told why such events are organized. Everyone was able to touch the torch and thereby support the ideas of the relay race, such as mutual understanding, unity, harmony and friendship between people and countries.
On July 11, the relay will bring a message of peace and harmony to Latvia.
The main goal of the "Peace Run" is the opportunity for all to take part in a unique international project that unites people from all over the world, and thus make a step towards peace. This is why more than 100 countries will take the relay this year, including Russia, all the countries of Europe, China, Kazakhstan, USA, Canada, Mexico, South Korea, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina and African countries. The total length of the relay race will be over 70 thousand kilometers!
